Our healthy Food Pantry is a wonderful resource for thousands of Jackson County residents each year. However, many of them struggle to get to us because of difficulties with transportation and distance. This is why Anchor House has a goal to have a mobile or scattered-site pantry in every small town in Jackson County by the end of 2030. This includes every small town with more than 300 people and some of the ones with less than 300 where there is not an existing food pantry.
In August of 2026, we will pilot this new initiative by delivering food distributions to locations near the intersection of Route 50 and Interstate 65. There are many homeless and low-income families living in these areas who have difficulty traveling to our main food pantry location. We will aim for the distributions to be weekly, but initially they will be on select Wednesdays, 5:30 PM to 7 PM at the All State Inn and then the Days Inn.
The Point Church has generously stepped up to provide the volunteers on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. St. Ambrose Church is providing volunteers on the 3rd Wednesdays and Central Christian Church is providing the volunteers for the 5th Wednesdays. We have a group scheduled for the 1st Wednesday in August, but if your group would like to find out how you can support us, please reach out to us at office@anchorhouseshelter.org.
If you would like to support our efforts to ensure that no adult or child suffers from hunger in Jackson County, for as little as $15 per month you can Feed a Family through a monthly donation.
Donors and Corporate Sponsors can also consider a larger gift through our sponsorship program.
