Section 8 Rental Assistance
Anchor House runs a rental assistance program designated for those who receive a Section 8 housing voucher or live in a Section 8 housing complex and are experiencing an unexpected financial crisis.
How It Works
Anchor House will commit to paying a portion of your rent on the following schedule: First Month – 40% of monthly rent, Second Month – 25% of monthly rent, Third Month – 15% of monthly rent. You will be responsible for contributing some portion of the rent yourself and taking our verified letter to other community agencies to raise the remaining portion of the rent as needed. You are also required to attend 3 financial literacy classes at Anchor House.
Eligibility

Must be a Jackson County Resident

Must be a recipient of Section 8 housing voucher or live in a Section 8 housing complex

Must provide documentation of a hardship that has led to you needing financial assistance (ie. job loss, medical emergency, car repairs, death in the family etc.)

Have not received rental assistance from Anchor House in the last 12 months

Landlord must be willing to receive a direct partial payment from Anchor House

If you are in active eviction, your landlord must certify that the amounts paid will stop the eviction proceedings
Verification
After we receive your application and confirm eligibility, our goal is to make the verification process as simple as possible. You will be able to submit documentation by texting us a picture of any necessary paperwork. We will need verification of the following items:

Your photo ID

Proof of an unexpected financial hardship

Section 8 Housing Voucher - HUD Form 52646
We will also contact your landlord to verify that you are a tenant at the stated address.
